Me and a group of buddies planned a hiking trip along the Appalachian Mountain trail for spring break. If you are choosing to go camping with kids, you need to spend a little more time planning than if you were going with yourself or just other adults. It is harder to wing it with kids because complaining voices are not going to make your trip enjoyable. Simple things can make a big difference.

For example, make sure you have layers for sleeping, bug spray for the nighttime and first aid equipment even for the most basic camping trip.  It may take longer to prepare but you should bring bikes or other fun outdoor equipment that the kids can play with while you are setting up and/or just trying to relax.

If you have small children with you, you will just need one big tent, don’t try to put little kids in a separate tent or you will regret it in the middle of the night. Kids don’t generally need a soft space to sleep so feel free to leave them on the ground while you take air mattresses or mats.  You will need clothesline for hanging all the kids wet gear and flashlights for everyone.  And, you definitely need a camp stove instead of relying on your campfire for cooking.

Do not hurry deciding for a camping holiday because these are memorable experiences and you must not haste unless it is an emergency. Holidays are enjoyable when they are properly planned and you have all the necessary camping equipment with you. The first thing is to plan out a place and for this you must take time, research either locally or on Internet and select the best suitable one that fits in your budget as well as gives you absolute exposure and unforgettable experience of your camping holiday.

In general, there are some basic differences between boys and girls (or men and women) that should be taken in to consideration if you are planning a hiking or camping trip, and are planning to be outdoors for a day or more.  Here are a few tips that can help your experience be more pleasant.

Girls don’t pee standing up, so make sure you not only pack an ample supply of toilet paper, but if modesty is an issue, have a towel, sheet, or lightweight blanket that can be used as a screen.  Leave the perfume and hairspray at home. When camping with children, I highly recommend bringing a portable
toilet on your trip.  There is no question that this simple concession will
make the trip more enjoyable for you and your children.  Personally, my
biggest complaint when camping revolves around how close my party is to
the communal toilet.  You never want to be too close, but you never want
to be too far away either.  Trying to find the perfect balance is always quite
the task — especially in crowded campgrounds.  It is even more difficult
when children are involved.

Some parents are put off by the idea of a portable toilet when camping, but
what they seem to forget is that they probably used a similar concept during potty training.  Also, consider that camp toilets are usually made to be outdoors, so waste is contained for dumping at a later time*.  I wouldn’t recommend using the outdoor toilet for every potty break, as it can get expensive and/or cumbersome.

*It is not recommended to bring a regular potty training type toilet into the
woods.  It is never acceptable to dump waste outside of a waste station.  It
is also highly inadvisable to use anything other than a certified outdoor
toilet while camping because of sanitary and safety issues with
containment.

The last time I went camping I decided to go solo and forget about bringing a tent since I really don’t like setting them up. I planned on bringing a BBQ, my guitar, and my mountain bike. I figured it would be a really nice and simple trip since I wouldn’t have to hassle with setting up and tearing down.

It turns out that while this was nice in theory, the reality had one major flaw: the bed of my truck is cold, ridged metal, and all I brought was a thin sleeping bag and a pillow. A lot of the rivers kayakers take are in the wilderness and if you get lost in the wilderness you will want every advantage you can get. Then of course comes your basic camping gear if you plan on camping out for a night or two. Always include a way of making a fire and a GPS if you have one. GPS’s are a great way to stay on track. Also remember to include a way of making fire even if you aren’t camping out. This is one of the most common mistakes but the most deadly as well.

Most Catamarans are dual-hulled boats, meaning that they contain two different hulls, called Amas, separated by two poles, called Akas, which typically carry a platform between them. The increased size, allows for increased displacement, which makes them extremely efficient in rough water, and these vessels are commonly used in navy’s across the world.

They won’t have access to things like electricity or running water and will need to make sure they pack accordingly.

Others prefer a more structured camp site.  This will be in a group camping area that will have lots of different campers around. Here are some tips that are helpful to campers that are bringing a flashlight. One tip would be to put the batteries, if your flashlight is battery operated, in the flashlight upside down for the ride to the campsite. This will ensure you that the batteries won’t run out by the switch accidentally flicking the light on. Another tip is to check the bulb to make sure it shines bright before you leave. You wouldn’t want the bulb to burn out on you during your camping trip. It may be a good idea to bring extra batteries and bulbs just to be on the safe side.

There are a number of things you should look before going out for a hiking trip. The first priority is always the protection of your feet. There should be enough room for your toes when moving downhill and there shouldnt be much room for your ankles to avod slipping. Rain wear is also a necessity while hiking. A nylon poncho with an attahced hood is always preffered. It is also essential to dring water while hiking. If you are hiking in earm coditions then you should take two to three quarts.
You should take a day pack because it has enough room for almost everything that you have to bring. There are some secondary things that you should take like a map of the area or a compass. Also take a small first aid kit. A small whistle is also recommended in case of emergency. A small knife shoould also come handy. Also you should take a lunch pack. A prefferable way is to pack the food in double plastic bags to avoid leaking. A few recommended snacks are cheese, tuna, peanut butter and yogurts. If you keep these things with you, you will surely have a great hiking adventure.

When going out hiking, wearing the appropriate footwear is important.  At first glance, something simple and comfortable like tennis shoes might seem perfectly acceptable, but in reality when you plan to be hiking on uneven surfaces or rough terrain for a long period of time, you need something more specialized.

Unlike tennis shoes, hiking boots provide good ankle support, extra cushioning for the feet, and protection from rocks and water.  The soles are also much thicker and have tread designed to help a hiker keep a good purchase even on slippery surfaces.  There are also boots with more functions that have other additional features, for example mountaineering boots with crampons.

It is important to find boots that fit.  They should be snug on the foot, over a good pair of hiking socks, without causing the toes to cramp, and the laces should be able to tie securely.  It is also important to break them in before wearing them.  Buying a fresh new pair of boots Monday and going on a four-hour hike Tuesday is virtually guaranteed to cause blisters.  Getting a new pair of well-fitting boots a few weeks in advance and then wearing them around town to help fit them to your feet is the best way to ensure a comfortable hiking experience.
