Maine Campgrounds Great For Bird Watching

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

There are so many different types of birds in the world and there are many that live in rural regions such as that of the coastal state Maine. I have had the joy of living and camping in Maine for many years. There are great things to look at in this state. The birds and wildlife are just a part of it. The environment is so beautiful that at virtually any mountaintop, and there are  many in Maine, you can see for miles around and take in the majestic wonder of it all.

It is much easier to do this if you have a nice set of binoculars of course. With myset, I have been able to document more than thirty five different types of birds around the campground in Maine. I am sure this is true of many other campgrounds all over the United States, but if you get the chance to come to Maine, you should take it.

My favorite binocular has made by trip to Switzerland more beautiful

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

One year back my best friend and I had been to Switzerland and it was a memorable trip we had in last few years. We were feeling like we were in paradise at that time. The most important gadget that has helped in making that trip more beautiful was my favorite binocular. There were many places where we cannot see the beauty of nature with our eyes as we were not be able to see the things which are at distance place.  But my binocular has helped a lot in making those things closer to our eyes.

I would say without my binocular that trip might not go that much beautiful.  Now I have learned that whenever we go for any holiday trip then it is must to have good binocular so that we can enjoy the beauty of nature easily.  I will recommend the readers to buy good quality binoculars and make it ready whenever you are going for a holiday trip.

Best Water Filters are Ceramic

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

From my 10 years experience as a Boy Scout, I have had plenty of experience with various water filtration systems. The best tasting water I have ever had came from a water filter that used a ceramic filter. These offer superior protection as no living organism can pass through its tiny pores. However, other filters  will get the job done. The ceramic ones can be a bit pricey.

However, don’t let price become too big of an issue. I always use a water filter for taste and safety. Chemical treatments just don’t taste right. They are just as effective, but make your water taste like it came from a swimming pool. I have also had some stomach aches after drinking water treated in this way. For your outdoor adventure, I recommend a reasonably priced pump filtration system whether it uses ceramic or other filters.

Why should you use a Water Filter on your camping trip?

Monday, January 26th, 2009

People go on nature trips to relax and unwind. They love to spend time in the lap of nature away from worries of work. Some people go fishing, while others go camping, backpacking or mountaineering. You need to plan if you wish to go on a camping trip. You must have included various items like a flashlight, tent, knife, food, and other supplies essential for a camping trip. One item which you must carry on your trip is a water filter.

Drinking pure and safe water is a definite way to stay healthy. People believe that water available in mountain stream is 100% pure and safe. It is true that this water is sweet, but you can never be sure whether it is safe for consumption. It may contain harmful residues which might cause you to fall sick while on your trip. You might be stranded far away from the civilization without any immediate medical help. Carrying a water filter helps to solve this problem, and will keep you safe.

Fun Flashlight Walk for Kids

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Children have always loved flashlights.  There is something magical about A starry night with nothing but a flashlight to guide the way.  The next time you take the kids camping or go on a nature walk in your local park at dusk grab some flashlights and try this fun game.  Kids and adults alike will have a blast.

Give each participating person his own flashlight. Slowly walk along a trail or campsite.  Have walkers look for cool stuff in nature by shining their flashlight on objects they pass such as rocks, spider webs, tree leaves, etc.  Stay quiet and listen for cool sounds.  Try to identify where the noises are coming from and what is making them.

Once you have walked for awhile stop for a break.  Discuss what you see and how, even at night, the forest is still alive with animals, insects and nature. This game helps children focus on things they may not even notice during daylight.  This teaches children to love the outdoors.  It also helps children to become comfortable with the dark.

Do I Need An All Weather Tent?

Friday, September 19th, 2008

If you are a camper who often finds yourself camping in the rain, or even the hail, sleet or snow, you will probably want to purchase an all weather tent. Not only will it protect you from any precipitation you may encounter, an all weather tent can also act as an insulator to the cold weather. Of course, all weather tents are more expensive than a tent that is designed for use in the Spring or Summer – but paying that little bit extra really can mean the difference between a successful, comfortable camping trip and a miserable time in the woods.

There are many different types of all weather tents for you to choose from, so you will want to make sure to pick one that best suits your needs. If you are hiking alone to a campsite, for example, there is no need for that large 6 person tent; all it’s going to do is take up space in your pack and weigh you down. On the other hand, you’ll want to make sure you have something that is big enough to store your gear when it’s not in use, as well.

How hiking can help your health

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

There are several ways that hiking can help you stay fit and healthy. Hiking is one of the best work outs you can do. Especially for women. With women regular hiking can help prevent osteoporosis. This happens because you are working against the force of gravity which helps increase bone density and slows calcium loss. This is strengthening bones and making them less susceptible to breaking.

The mental health benefits are just as great as the physical benefits. Exposing your self to day light, which you certainly can’t get in a gym, increases levels of serotonin (a mood-lifting chemical) in the brain. Because exercise also boosts serotonin production, the benefit is two times as strong. This is a wonderful benefit to hiking.

The biggest benefit to your health that hiking can cause is a feeling of accomplishment. When someone feels like they have accomplished something that they normally wouldn’t be able to do they feel better about themselves. This causes higher self a steam and can make a person suffering with depression feel like the sky has opened back up for them. Hiking is something that everyone should do. There is no harm to going out and hiking a beautiful trail in the woods. Everyone loves fresh air. So lets all go get some while working out.
