Camping Gear is a necessity

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

You may be a very quiet and withdrawn kind of person, who is used to a typical office job and relaxing at home in the evenings.  You may not be the kind who loves going out very often and you family members too may not be making any demands of that kind.

The thought of buying a Camping Gear may not have crossed your mind at all at any point of time.  But there may be some occasion in life when you may have to go out with some friends or family members, owing to compulsion.  In such a situation, procuring a Camping Gear at the nth hour may not be a discreet idea.  It I always advisable to have every kind of item at home for you do not know when you would require a certain thing.  Today you may not be a keen outgoing person, but a situation might arise when you would have all the time in the world to explore new places and then this kit will prove to be extremely handy.

What Camping Gear Do You Need With Kids

Monday, August 31st, 2009

If you are choosing to go camping with kids, you need to spend a little more time planning than if you were going with yourself or just other adults. It is harder to wing it with kids because complaining voices are not going to make your trip enjoyable. Simple things can make a big difference.

For example, make sure you have layers for sleeping, bug spray for the nighttime and first aid equipment even for the most basic camping trip.  It may take longer to prepare but you should bring bikes or other fun outdoor equipment that the kids can play with while you are setting up and/or just trying to relax.

If you have small children with you, you will just need one big tent, don’t try to put little kids in a separate tent or you will regret it in the middle of the night. Kids don’t generally need a soft space to sleep so feel free to leave them on the ground while you take air mattresses or mats.  You will need clothesline for hanging all the kids wet gear and flashlights for everyone.  And, you definitely need a camp stove instead of relying on your campfire for cooking.

Camping Gear And Tips For A Winter Escape

Choosing the right camping gear

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Choosing the right camping gear is very essential while planning for a hiking or camping trip. One can follow the method easily by making a list of necessary products that have to be taken along for the trip. Making a list is very useful as one can easily forget the important things for the trip which may make the adventure a nightmare. The kind of camping gear that has to be chosen for the trip basically depends on the nature of the trip. However, a tent is something one always needs to have for these kinds of adventurous trips.

Other necessary equipment includes flash lights, adequate supply of food and liquids, hunting knives and warm clothes. One should always keep in mind that the trip should be well planned and the camping gear can make the trip more exciting or in worst cases the most awful one. Proper planning always reduces the risks of hassles and problems that one might come across during the trips. For example a rainy night can become a nightmare if the tent is not durable and in not resistant to water and bad weather conditions.

Do I Need An All Weather Tent?

Friday, September 19th, 2008

If you are a camper who often finds yourself camping in the rain, or even the hail, sleet or snow, you will probably want to purchase an all weather tent. Not only will it protect you from any precipitation you may encounter, an all weather tent can also act as an insulator to the cold weather. Of course, all weather tents are more expensive than a tent that is designed for use in the Spring or Summer – but paying that little bit extra really can mean the difference between a successful, comfortable camping trip and a miserable time in the woods.

There are many different types of all weather tents for you to choose from, so you will want to make sure to pick one that best suits your needs. If you are hiking alone to a campsite, for example, there is no need for that large 6 person tent; all it’s going to do is take up space in your pack and weigh you down. On the other hand, you’ll want to make sure you have something that is big enough to store your gear when it’s not in use, as well.

How to Choose the Best Pocket Knife

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

When you are camping or out in the wilderness, one of the most important tools you can have at your disposable is a quality pocket knife. Pocket knives come in all shapes, sizes, and colors – so how do you know which one is the right pocket knife for you? When shopping for a new pocket knife, there are many things you should take into consideration.

Ask yourself, “What will I be doing with my pocket knife?” If it is going to be used for small tasks, such as whittling, cutting rope or something similar, you don’t need something too fancy. On the other hand, if you are going to be using it to gut and skin small game or fish, you will want to make sure that you invest in something that is more appropriate for that sort of job. After this, you’ll want to make sure you knife fits comfortably in your hand, and that is not too big or too small. Choosing the wrong size knife can really affect its usability when you count on it the most.
