Don’t Forget Emergency Food Kits

Friday, June 12th, 2009

In the process of getting together emergency preparedness kits, a lot of people end up forgetting to add food as part of their survival kits.  If you become stranded or end up in a situation where you need to rely on your survival kit, having food and drinking water becomes essential.  This is especially true in any event where help may be a long way off.

An emergency food kit can be bought at most camping suppliers, grocery stores, or even online.  A good kit will be stored inside a sealed waterproof container and contain enough rations for you and your entire family.  Be sure to store your kit in a cool, dry place to ensure it remains in usable condition for when you need it.  Most kits have shelf lives of 10 to 20 years if stored properly.
